FES Mozambique

The discovery of major gas reserves since 2010 has changed Mozambique`s economic and political outlook. The new perspectives boost the national debate on an autonomous development path but also create new challenges for democratic governance, transparency, and suitable social and economic policies for development, revenue generation, and social justice.

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) has been present in Mozambique since 1983. Our work is inspired by the core ideas and values of social democracy – freedom, justice, and solidarity.

Together with our partners – governmental institutions, political parties, civil society organizations, social and women’s rights activists, trade unions, and academic institutions – we support the ongoing democratization process and inclusive development in all spheres of the society.

FES Mozambique currently works on the following programs:

  • Citizens` Participation and Democracy
  • Peace and Security
  • Development and Social Justice
  • Political Feminism
